Moto XXX Draws Help From the Privateer Ranks

The 2004 Season has been riddled with injuries and unexpected personnel changes for the Moto XXX race team. Especially needy in the 125cc class, the squad has recruited one of its privateer brothers in a move that will prove to be mutually beneficial.

Dylan Lord, who runs #130, will join the team at the Troy, Ohio round of the AMA Motocross Nationals and has already begun testing his new Honda CRF250R with team staff. Even though the move constitutes a mid-season switch from another motorcycle brand, Lord and the Honda are getting acquainted quickly.

"I felt pretty comfortable on the Honda right away”, Lord said after his first test session. “It’s easy to ride and I don’t think we’ll need to do very much to get me ready to race on it. The suspension was really good as soon as I got on. After a few minor adjustments to the clickers, I was turning very good lap times.”

Dylan Lord is 19 years old and in his second year of professional competition. Hailing from Apple Valley, California, he spent the winter living the hard core life of a privateer on the 125 West Supercross circuit. The series was highlighted by three main event appearances, but plagued by mechanical problems. Those mechanical problems carried over into the summer’s outdoor season, but are something that should be behind him now.

“I’m so happy to be joining Moto XXX” Dylan said. “It’s been frustrating to have so many bike problems this year. Now I’ll be on better, faster bikes that I know will get me to the end of the races. I’m already confident in the equipment and the team that will be at the races every weekend. I can’t wait to get out there and ride now!”

Lord will join Matt Lalloz—who has decided to ride through a knee injury—in the 125 class, while Kyle Lewis campaigns the CRF450R in the 250cc class.
